Thompson's Station is a Williamson County town south of Franklin along Columbia Pike, about thirty-five minutes down I-65 from downtown Nashville. It stayed rural longer than its neighbors, and it still reads that way between the subdivisions: farmland, the 1819 Homestead Manor, and long gravel drives off Thompson's Station Road. The growth of the past fifteen years arrived in a few large planned neighborhoods. Tollgate Village mixes single-family houses, townhomes and a town center; Bridgemore Village has larger lots and larger houses; Fields of Canterbury sits off Critz Lane; and Whistle Stop Farms and Cameron Farms run toward the Spring Hill line.
Because so many of these houses were built from builder plans between 2010 and today, owners commission the finishing work: a pantry with cabinetry instead of wire shelves, closets with drawers, a mudroom with lockers for a family that spends weekends outdoors, a home office for someone who now commutes to Cool Springs only twice a week, and a kitchen upgrade in the older Tollgate and Bridgemore sections.
What do Thompson's Station homeowners usually ask us for?
Pantries and mudrooms are the first request, and they go together. Houses in Bridgemore Village and Tollgate Village often have a walk-in pantry and a drop zone off the garage that were framed generously and finished minimally. We build the pantry with shelving on adjustable standards, deep drawers for bulk goods and a counter for the mixer and the coffee maker, and the mudroom with a bench, lockers with hooks and a cabinet for the things that should not be on the bench.
Closets and kitchens come next. Primary closets in these houses are large and empty, so a built-in system with drawers, double hanging and shelving is a straightforward improvement. In the earliest phases of Tollgate Village and Bridgemore Village, the kitchens are now old enough that owners are replacing the cabinetry, enlarging the island and taking the uppers to the ceiling, while keeping the layout the builder got right. Media walls in the bonus room and a built-in office wall complete the list.
What is different about working on a home in Thompson's Station?
Distance is the practical difference. Thompson's Station is at the far end of Williamson County, so we schedule installs in full days and bring everything the job needs, including the pieces that might otherwise wait for a second trip. Permits, where a project needs one, run through the town, and the planned neighborhoods have homeowners associations with design rules for exteriors. The houses themselves are recent and square, with nine- and ten-foot ceilings that give tall pantry and closet cabinetry room to breathe.
The look
The kind of work we bring to Thompson's Station
Do you build custom pantries for homes in Thompson's Station?
Yes. A walk-in pantry is one of the best-value projects in a newer Thompson's Station house because the room already exists. We replace wire shelving with cabinetry: adjustable shelves, deep drawers, pull-outs for cans and bottles, and a counter with an outlet so small appliances live in the pantry instead of on the kitchen counter.
Can you remodel a kitchen in Tollgate Village or Bridgemore Village in Thompson's Station?
Yes. The earliest houses in both neighborhoods are old enough that a kitchen refresh makes sense. Most projects keep the layout, replace the cabinetry with shop-built pieces that run to the ceiling, enlarge the island and rework the pantry. Homeowners association approval is generally not required for interior work, but we confirm before starting.
Do you serve all of Thompson's Station, including the rural roads outside the subdivisions?
Yes. Thompson's Station falls well inside our fifty-mile service radius from Nashville, and that includes the farms and acreage homes along Thompson's Station Road and Columbia Pike as well as the planned neighborhoods. Older farmhouses get the same approach as historic homes closer in: measured, drawn and built to the actual rooms.
