Nolensville is a Williamson County town about twenty-five minutes southeast of downtown Nashville by way of Nolensville Pike, and most of it is new. The historic village along Nolensville Road keeps a few older houses and storefronts, but the neighborhoods that surround it, Bent Creek, Ballenger Farms, Benington, Summerlyn, Silver Stream Farm, Scales Farmstead and Nolen Mill, were built almost entirely in the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s by production builders working from a handful of plans.

Those houses share a pattern. Open kitchens with an island, a pantry finished with wire shelving, a primary closet with a rod and a shelf, a bonus room upstairs, a two- or three-car garage that fills up fast, and a flex room by the front door that was meant to be an office. Owners in Nolensville commission the pieces the builder left out: a real pantry, closet systems with drawers, garage storage, a home office wall and a media wall with the electronics hidden.

What do Nolensville homeowners usually ask us for?

Closets and pantries first. A Nolensville primary closet is often a generous room with almost nothing in it, and a walk-in pantry is a closet with four wire shelves. We rebuild both with cabinetry: double hanging, long hanging, drawer stacks, shoe shelves and a bench in the closet, and shelving on adjustable standards, pull-out baskets and a counter for small appliances in the pantry. The rooms were sized well by the builder; they simply were never finished.

Kitchens are the second request, particularly in the earlier neighborhoods such as Bent Creek and Ballenger Farms, where the original cabinetry is now fifteen or twenty years old. Owners keep the layout, which usually works, and replace the boxes with cabinetry built to the ceiling, a larger island, better drawers and a finish that suits the rest of the house. Garage storage, home offices in the front flex room and media walls in the bonus room follow.

What is different about working on a home in Nolensville?

Nolensville houses are consistent, which helps. Ceilings are nine or ten feet, walls are square, and framing is predictable, so cabinetry can be built with confidence from measurements taken on the first visit. The town issues its own building permits through its codes department, and nearly every neighborhood has a homeowners association with rules on exterior changes, though interior cabinetry and closets rarely involve them. The bigger practical question is usually schedule: many owners are working from home, so we plan installation to keep the office usable.

Nolensville questions

Every question we get

Do you install custom closet systems in newer homes in Nolensville?

Yes. Most Nolensville houses came with a single rod and shelf in every closet, including the primary. We measure the room, design hanging at two heights, drawers, shelving and shoe storage around what you own, build it in the shop and install it as a finished piece of the house rather than a kit.

Can you organize a three-car garage in Nolensville?

Yes. Garage storage is a natural project for Nolensville's newer houses. We build tall cabinets, wall-hung upper cabinets, open shelving, a workbench and hooks for bikes and yard tools, laid out so both cars still fit. Materials and finishes are chosen for an unconditioned space, and everything is fixed to the framing, not the drywall.

Is a kitchen remodel worth it in a Nolensville house built in the 2000s?

Often, yes. The layouts in Bent Creek, Ballenger Farms and similar neighborhoods usually work well, so the remodel can keep plumbing and electrical in place and focus on the cabinetry, island, countertops and pantry. That contains the scope while replacing the parts of the kitchen that show their age most.
